Posh warns Brooklyn and Nicola:

“Don’t feel pressured into this”

-

They took a longawaited holiday with their brood to Puglia, Italy, last week – reuniting with eldest son Brooklyn Beckham and his new fiancée Nicola Peltz, who spent most of lockdown in New York, away from the rest of family in the Cotswolds.

But as the Beckhams enjoyed quality time together, insiders reveal Victoria and husband David took the chance to have a number of heart-to-hearts with the young couple. Sources say the Beckhams are concerned about Brooklyn and Nicola, as they are already facing a backlash after details of their opulent wedding went public – as well as his ex lashing out at their plans.

Pals say Posh – who is notoriously protective of her children, who also include Romeo, 17, Cruz, 15, and Harper, nine – is worried about the happy pair being ridiculed over all the attention the wedding is already getting.

A source says, “Vic knows how cruel people can be and

she feels fiercely protective of both Brooklyn and Nicola. She can see they have genuine love for one another, which is why she doesn’t want their wedding to become a laughing stock. People have been saying he’s too young and already speculating that it’s going to be way over the top, like they did with her wedding to David.

SPECULATION

“While all the kids loved the time together in Italy, Vic and David spent a lot of time chatting to Brooklyn and

Nicola about their plans. Vic particularly bonded with Nicola over brunch and made it clear to her that she wants to help in any way she can to organise the perfect day for the pair.

“What she’s tried to make clear to both of them is that, no matter what, people will always have opinions about their big day. It will stay with them for the rest of their lives, so she has stressed that it’s really important they do what pleases them – but she has also advised them to avoid overthinking it and not to feel pressured into anything.”

Closer previously reported that Posh, 46, was concerned about Brooklyn, 21, marrying young, as she and David, 45, had to deal with a lot when they first started dating in their early twenties back in 1997. However, she is said to be determined to help guide her son and his fiancée through all the difficulties they could face as a new couple in the spotlight.

The young couple have already faced intense speculation around their nuptials – rumoured to be costing £4m – with reports that they’re considering holding it at the luxurious Borgo Egnazia hotel in Puglia, with events in Florida and the UK. Additional reports claimed they would be planning a Jewish ceremony to honour her and her father’s religion, and that they’d be signing pre-nups.

And the newly-engaged couple had to deal with drama, as Brooklyn’s ex-girlfriend, US dancer Lexy Panterra, claimed he’d previously said he was

“not ready” to tie the knot and admitted to being “shocked and confused” at hearing the news. She lashed out by saying, “Brooklyn is not ready for that. He is very young and way too immature.”

MOCKED

Posh and David got married at Luttrellstown Castle in Dublin, Ireland, on a 560-acre estate in 1999 – but the pair were ruthlessly mocked over the gaudy affair, which saw them change into matching purple outfits and sit on thrones.

Posh previously put the spectacle down to it being

“the thing to do around that time”, adding that when they renewed their vows it was “a lot more private”. But even David recently admitted that his look for the wedding was “pretty bold”, saying, “I even had a top hat in purple. Unbelievable.

What was I thinking?”

And insiders say that Posh is desperate to prevent Brooklyn and Nicola going through something similar for their upcoming big day.

The source adds, “It was so upsetting for them at the time to have people pick everything apart, when it’s supposed to be your special day. Both David and Vic have admitted that they let the wedding hysteria take over. They wish they had done something more classic and timeless, as her own personal style has evolved so much.

“She thinks Brooklyn has a great sense of style, thanks to his interest in photography. She’s encouraging him to trust his gut, but is keeping a watchful eye over planning. She’s warned him not to make the same mistakes they did by going all out in a current trend and style, and instead think about how things will date.

“Of course, they’ll be offered the best of everything considering it’s a celebrity wedding, and often brands and designers want to give away their most opulent items for events such as these.

“However, Vic really just wants them to just be themselves and to not pay attention to any negativity around their special day.”
