‘The government doesn’t understand the importance of beauty treatments’

-

The pandemic has hit many workplaces and industries hard, with thousands of people out of work and businesses forced to close. But of all the industries affected, I think the beauty industry has had it the worst. Not only did all salons shut during lockdown, but as no one has been going out, product sales have been hit badly too.

Thankfully, some salons have reopened and some procedures can go ahead (facials, eyelash and eyebrow treatments, and facial waxing are not allowed). But some can’t, and while I understand we need to be cautious and stop the spread of coronavirus, I don’t think the government understands how important the industry is. A beauty treatment can do a lot for self-esteem and mental health – it makes people feel better about themselves. Many women and men have beauty treatments as part of their self-care. It’s a big element of most girls’ everyday lives. I’m a make-up artist and I’m so grateful that my TOWIE platform enabled me to launch a career in that. My partner Dean and I have just launched our own beauty business selling topquality beauty tools for everyday make-up – but sadly lockdown affected the way it’s been launched. We’ve adapted, though – my front room looks like a stockroom at the moment! I launched it because I want everyone to feel good in their skin and love the way they look. I can’t wait for the day salons are properly open again. ● Harry has recently launched his own crueltyfree beauty range, Celebrity Brushes – Celebritybrushes.co.uk
