COURTENEY’S TORN OVER WORKING WITH EX

After confirming she has signed up to reprise her role as Gale Weathers in Scream 5 – in which she will star alongside her ex-husband David Arquette – friends tell Closer that Courteney Cox has turned to Jennifer Aniston for advice on working with an ex.

Courteney and David met on the set of the original film in 1996, but they divorced after 13 years of marriage in 2011 when David admitted to cheating. She is now engaged to Snow Patrol frontman Johnny McDaid.

A source says, “Courteney feels a real mix of emotions about working with David. On one hand, she feels it’s familiar territory as they’ve been co-parents to their daughter [Coco, 15] for years since their split, but she is also worried their familiarity could cause tension on set.

“She asked Jen for advice, because Jen has managed to maintain long-lasting relationships with her exes. Jen told her that she should go for it, but to keep her emotions in check. She’s all about professionalism and doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with working with an ex, as long as you both behave in a mature and kind fashion.”

Jennifer has a reputation for staying on good terms with her exes. In 1994, she worked with ex-boyfriend Tate Donovan, who played Joshua for six episodes of Friends – despite the fact the pair had just broken up in real life.

She also made amends with ex-husband Brad Pitt at her 50th birthday bash in Los Angeles last year, and is also said to be friendly with her other ex-husband Justin Theroux, whom she divorced in 2017.
