Posh’s fears royal row will overshadow Brooklyn’s wedding
Insiders say Victoria Beckham is concerned a clash between her pals, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, could ruin her son’s big day
Just a month after announcing their engagement, Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz sparked speculation they had secretly tied the knot, after Brooklyn sported a band on his wedding finger in an Instagram photo, and again during a shopping spree last week.
American heiress Nicola,
25, also teased that the couple were expecting their first baby, after she posted a loved-up snap of them on holiday in Greece with the rest of the Beckham clan, and captioned it “Baby B”.
ONGOING FEUD
While their fans were quick to congratulate them on their rumoured quickie wedding and “pregnancy”, the couple remained tight-lipped, and pals tell Closer that even if they have wed in secret, both Nicola and Brooklyn, 21, are still keen on a lavish celebration.
It’s reported the nuptials will cost £5million, with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry said to be top of the star-studded guest list.
However, pals say that although Posh, 46, is thrilled to invite Harry and Meghan, invitations have also been extended to the Beckhams’ other royal friends, Kate Middleton and Prince William – but the designer fears reports of their ongoing feud could

overshadow her son’s special day.
The source says, “Brooklyn is extremely close to his parents, and has always socialised with them and their friends. As a result, they will have a big input in the guest list, and all four – Posh, David, Nicola and Brooklyn – would love both sets of royals at the wedding.
“But Posh feels incredibly torn between Kate and Meghan, and is panicking about the prospect of them being the centre of attention instead of Nicola and Brooklyn. She dreads being dragged into a new crisis. This is a huge celebration and she doesn’t want any tension or bad atmosphere between highprofile guests spoiling it.”
The Beckhams have had a long-standing friendship with Harry – with the prince forming a close bond with David, 45, during their work on the Olympic Games in 2012. Posh and David were guests at their Windsor Castle wedding in 2018, while Posh was later rumoured to be helping Meghan “spruce up” Frogmore Cottage.
Earlier this year, it was reported Meghan was suspicious that Victoria was leaking stories about her – which Victoria strongly denied, reportedly being “mortified” at the suggestion. But any rift seems mended, with Meghan proving her loyalty to the former Spice Girl by wearing her dresses on a number of

occasions – including her first event since quitting the royal family in March, in which she wore a striking blue pencil frock to the Endeavour Fund Awards in London.
And the source confirmed that the Beckhams had visited the Sussexes during their family ski trip to Canada in February, where the former royal couple were also staying.
TENSION
But while Posh – who’s previously said she “doesn’t have a lot of friends” – has grown closer to Meghan, her friendship with Kate has spanned over a decade, as has her husband’s long-standing relationship with William. The Beckhams were also guests at their 2011 wedding, and opening up about his “close mate” William in 2012, the former England captain said, “It’s a very normal relationship”.
Posh has tried to stay impartial in the falling out between the sisters-in-laws, and earlier this year she publicly praised Kate’s mental health charity initiative on Instagram. She’s previously revealed her admiration for the Duchess and how they bonded over fashion,
saying, “[Kate] likes my clothes and asked to see a selection.”
But her fears over tension between them at the wedding isn’t unjustified. In March, the Cambridges and Sussexes hardly spoke at the Commonwealth service at Westminster Abbey, and the Sussexes’ new biography, Finding Freedom, revealed how Prince Charles’ 70th birthday celebrations were also “strained”.
BAD FEELING
However, the source says that David has been reassuring Posh that neither set of royals would let any potential bad feeling get in the way of Brooklyn’s big day – and is insisting they invite both camps. And royal expert Katie Nicholl agrees that Meghan and Kate will put on their best front if they accept the invitation.
Katie explains, “The Beckhams were lucky enough to be invited to both royal weddings, which is quite a rarity, and they will of course be returning the favour. Victoria will not want to alienate the future Queen, but she and Meghan have really hit it off.
“I think there’s every chance there will be a royal family meeting before the Beckham wedding, and it’ll then be up to Meghan and Kate whether they want to be at the same event or not. I would imagine it’s going to be a big enough wedding that they’re not going to be in terribly intimate situations with each other anyway.”
