DOMINIC’S SHOW OF UNITY WITH WIFE AFTER LILY ‘CHEAT’ SCANDAL
He starred in hit US drama The Affair and now actor Dominic West has been embroiled in his own alleged infidelity scandal, after pictures emerged of him cuddling and seemingly kissing actress Lily James last week.
Dominic, 51 – who is filming new TV drama The Pursuit Of Love with Lily – was photographed cosying up to the Mamma Mia 2 actress, 31, while out for lunch in Rome, and later laughing together as they looked close while riding an electric scooter.
Fans were left stunned by the photos, as Dominic is married to wife-of-ten-years Catherine Fitzgerald, with whom he shares children Dora, 13, Senan, ten, nine-year-old Francis and Christabel, five.
While there was speculation the couple must have secretly split prior to the photos, friends of the couple insisted they were still very much together. And Dominic and Catherine, 49, put on a united front a day after the pictures emerged, kissing for cameras and placing a handwritten statement outside their front door that read, “Our marriage is strong and we are very much still together. Thank you.” The couple were then said to have later fled to their country home in Ireland to escape the drama.
Fans were divided on Dominic and Catherine’s show of unity, with one writing, “How can she take him back after that?”
A past interview with Dominic from 2016 resurfaced amid the scandal, where he said, “I think women should be more indulgent of affairs. I really do. It’s daft to kick someone out over a fling, isn’t it? Everyone should turn a blind eye to men’s behaviour between the ages of 40 and 50. Let it all blow over.”
Lily broke up from long-term boyfriend, actor Matt Smith, last month, after the pair reportedly made a last-ditch attempt to save their relationship following their split over the summer. She was also reported to have been dating Captain America star Chris Evans in July, after the pair were pictured out in a park together. In another twist, footage of Lily admitting to making “mistakes” surfaced in an interview to promote her upcoming movie Rebecca, filmed days before the scandal broke. She said, “I think I make mistakes all the time and I feel that’s what life’s about and I would never want to run away from a situation.”
