Rebel: ‘My way of dealing with it was by eating doughnuts’

-

Opening up about her 2st 8lb weight loss this year, actress Rebel Wilson revealed how she had been caught in a cycle of “emotional eating” to deal with the stress of becoming famous worldwide, admitting she struggled with a lack of self-worth.

“I think what I mainly suffered from was emotional eating and dealing with the stress of becoming famous internationally,” she said during an interview on Drew Barrymore’s chat show last week. “There is a lot of stress that comes with it and I guess my way of dealing with it was just, like, eating doughnuts.”

The Aussie star, known for her comedy roles in films such as The Hustle and Pitch

Perfect Perfect, admitted that she’d been forced to address her emotions as she took a “holistic” approach to weight loss after trying “fad” diets.

Sparked by turning 40 in March, Rebel revealed how she’d chosen to call 2020 her “year of health”. Talking through her weight loss, she explained, “So I was working on the mental side of things, of why was I doing that and why was I not valuing myself and having better self-worth. And then, also on the nutritional side, my diet was mainly all carbs, which are delicious, but for my body type I needed to eat more protein.”

Looking to the future, Rebel has found love with her businessman boyfriend of two months, Jacob Busch, 29, and says, “I feel like everything seems to be coming together. Maybe I’m a late bloomer or something – but I’m slowly getting it together.”
