How much more can troubled Jordan take?
She’s no stranger to drama, but Jordan has suffered a week from hell as she’s cruelly trolled while a new bankruptcy hearing hangs over her amid new fears for son Harvey
It should have been a happy moment, as she revealed her journey to recovery last week by walking for the first time since breaking both feet in August, after jumping off a wall at a theme park while on holiday in Turkey.
But Jordan was quickly on the receiving end of vicious slurs online and was even accused of having exaggerated her injuries in the first place.
It was all part of a traumatic week for the former glamour model, 42, who was also blasted by fans for being unable to move on from ex-husband Peter Andre, 47, as she revealed she was “fixated” on him during their stint on
I’m A Celeb! 16 years ago.
On top of that, the mum of five – who is facing ongoing court drama over her bankruptcy – movingly revealed her emotional struggle with her eldest son Harvey’s disabilities and lifethreatening weight gain.
The catalogue of stressful events comes just a month after Jordan – real name Katie Price – candidly revealed she’d contemplated taking her own life earlier this year. The star tore herself apart with drug binges, wild partying and had a stint in rehab for PTSD following the end of her marriage to third husband Kieran Hayler in 2018. But she turned a corner after meeting boyfriend Carl Woods, 31, who she recently described as her “one and only” and who has been her rock since getting together in June.
However, psychotherapist Noel McDermott warns that Jordan needs to take a break from the spotlight to deal with everything and protect her wellbeing. He tells Closer,
“No one wants to watch Katie self-destruct. She seems to have become disconnected from reality and I fear for the sake of her future happiness. She’d do well to step back from the limelight.”
FRESH HEARTACHE OVER HARVEY
In an emotional confession, Jordan opened up last week about her concern over eldest son Harvey’s weight gain and his unruly behaviour at home. Harvey has Prader-Willi syndrome – a genetic disorder that causes increased appetite among other symptoms – and is partially blind and autistic. He lives in residential care during the week and stays with Jordan
at the weekends and holidays. But she recently revealed her worries about his weight, which has reached 29st, and admitted he steals and eats frozen pizzas at home.
Jordan – who is still campaigning for Harvey’s Law, to make online abuse a specific offence – explained, “I tell him he’ll die and he says, ‘No, don’t be silly, Mummy’s only joking’.
“He’s always been a big boy, always been chubby, but now it’s ridiculous. His clothes are 7XL – there are only two shops on the internet where I can get clothes for him. He walks up the stairs and he’s sweating and out of breath.” She then went on to say people question why she allows Harvey to eat, but explained she has no choice because he’ll “smash things” or “headbutt the wall”.
“He needs to lose weight or he’ll end up dead. He doesn’t deserve that. I don’t want to lose him,” she said.
HER FURY AT BACKLASH OVER PETE
After her recent confession that she was ”fixated” with ex-husband Peter Andre when she met him on I’m A Celeb! in 2004, Jordan hit back at fans who commented she was still in love with Pete. In a furious online rant, Jordan said she “doesn’t care” about the Mysterious Girl singer and has begged people to “respect his wife Emily”. She insisted, “I do not give a s**t about Pete. He is in my past. I wish people would stop bringing up stuff about me and Pete.” She added, “Don’t disrespect his wife Emily and don’t disrespect Carl, we’re over. We’re over for a reason. I don’t care. I’m in love with Carl, and me and Carl don’t even discuss Pete – he doesn’t even come into our lives.”
But even after asking people to respect Pete and Emily, she was faced with further criticism. One person wrote, “Everyone knows if Peter wanted to get back with Katie, she would jump over Carl to get to Peter!” Another posted, “You been talking about him ever since, not us, you. Peter will be so pleased that you are going to leave him alone at last.”
ACCUSED OF ‘ATTENTION SEEKING’ OVER HER INJURIES
She’d been unable to walk since August, after breaking both her feet. But photos emerged last week of Jordan back on her feet again after months of using support boots and a mobility scooter. “They [the doctors] said it’s really unique, so basically I’m Superwoman,” she explained.
However, the star – who had previously said doctors had told her it would take 18 months for her to walk again – was hit with a barrage of criticism from trolls who accused her of attention-seeking. One said, “Craving attention again I see”, while another commented, “Convenient she can walk straight after her court case. So her excuses for not being able to work would fly with the judge.”
Some fans also questioned how, in one set of pictures, she seemed fine on her feet, while in others she appeared to be wincing.
It’s not the first time fans have questioned if her injuries were genuine. In October, she shared gruesome photos of her stitched-up feet and wrote, “For people who said I haven’t broken my feet or people saying I had a bunion operation (even though I’ve never had bunions) still won’t admit they wrongly accused me and speculated again saying I’ve made it all up, will now see I wasn’t lying to the point I’ve had MAJOR SURGERY to my life changing injuries.”
HAUNTED BY COURT DRAMA
She had been due to appear in court last week to learn whether she has to undergo an investigation into her finances in relation to her bankruptcy from last year, but the hearing continues to hang over Jordan as it has been postponed.
Last month the star – who spent three weeks in rehab centre The Priory in the summer – was forced to apologise to the court at another bankruptcy hearing, explaining she was not “in the right mental state” to get her financial affairs in order.
Jordan read out a statement, telling the court that taking time to write things down was part of her therapy and the “process of dealing with my mental state whilst on the road to recovery.”
Jordan – whose “mucky mansion” in Sussex is said to have had a mortgage of more than £1million with monthly repayments of
£10,000 – told the court in
July, “I haven’t got anything left” after being burgled.
Over the years, she’s spent her reported £45m earnings on surgery, property, luxury holidays and staff wages.
