The Spice Girls reunion is on – after Geri heals Posh’s rift with Mel
With plans in motion for a sequel to Spice World: The Movie, insiders say Victoria Beckham will sign up after clearing the air with Mel B – to the delight of her fan daughter Harper!
After deciding not to join her four bandmates for their Spice World 2019 reunion tour, Posh felt the wrath of Scary Spice Mel B who publicly called her “a bit of a b**ch”.
But now insiders say Victoria Beckham, 47, is “tempted” to rejoin the band for the sequel to their 1997 hit film Spice World: The Movie – and has even mended her feud with Mel.
Last week, it was reported how the project to mark the band’s 25th anniversary is being led by Geri Horner, 48, who is currently managing the band – Mel B, 45, Mel C, 47, and Emma Bunton, 45 – and they’re already in talks with a “renowned scriptwriter”.
And after Mel C revealed that Posh was “coming around” to the idea of joining them for their 25th anniversary world tour later this year, insiders say talks of a second film have never been closer to becoming a reality.
STAGE FRIGHT
A source says, “Vic loved making the first film and the fact it didn’t call for them to sing live was an added bonus, as it’s something that has always given her anxiety and these days fills her with dread.
“When Geri called to tell her about plans to make the second film even funnier, with a starstudded cast, Vic seemed keen.
“They reminisced about all the fun they had on set the first time around – but Vic did admit she was slightly concerned given the underlying tension between her and Mel B.”
Mel – aka Scary Spice – made no secret of her upset following Posh’s absence from their 2019 reunion tour, which was further magnified when the designer failed to even show up to support them at any of their 13 concerts.
Opening up on Good Morning Britain at the time, the mum-of-three frostily revealed, “Yeah I’m upset. I still am a little bit. But it is what it is and us girls, we all support each other, no matter what. But yeah, it is disappointing.”
But hinting the ice had thawed between them earlier this year, Mel appeared to confirm Posh could be joining them on their next project, adding they were all “raring to go”.
And insiders reveal how Mel’s statement came after Geri – who Mel claimed she’d once had sex with during their heyday – stepped in to mediate between the pair.
The source says, “Geri knew they would never get Posh to sign up for the film if there was any risk of friction with Mel. She was very frank with Mel and told her that unless she held out an olive branch and cleared the air, they would never get all five of them back together. So Mel took Geri’s advice and contacted Vic for a heart-to-heart. They agreed to let bygones be bygones.”
DIFFERENT FEELINGS
After opting-out of the band’s UK comeback tour in 2019, Posh revealed, “It took me a lot of courage not to go on tour with the Spice Girls again, but to be the one who says, ‘You know, I’m not doing it because things feel different now than they used to.’”
Months earlier, Mel C revealed how Posh found their one-off reunion performance at the Olympics closing ceremony in London in 2012 “hard” because “performing, in fact, completely petrifies her”.
But in 2018, Posh shared footage of her daughter, Harper, watching her mum starring in the original movie “on rotation”.

Stories, she told fans that Harper asked if she could also have “a little Gucci dress” like the one her mum wore in the tongue-in-cheek film.
The entrepreneur has proudly shown-off her daughter’s love for the band which shot her to global fame in 1996 – sharing a snap of her “baby Posh” playing with her Spice Girls dolls, and posting a sweet birthday tribute Harper made for her mum last year by replacing a picture of the band’s faces with those of the Beckham family.
And insiders tell Closer how Harper is another factor enticing Posh to rejoin the iconic girl group for the proposed movie.
The source says, “Watching Harper’s face light up when she watches old videos of her
and seeing how excited she was when she found out the girls are hoping to do another film, was a real tug at the heartstrings.
“Harper is nine now but was only a baby when Posh last performed with the girls at the Olympics. She has never seen her perform live, so the thought of being able to have Harper watch her on set encouraged her to just go for it.”
Insiders recently told Closer how “momager” Posh – who also shares sons Brooklyn, 22, Romeo, 18, and Cruz, 16, with David – was planning to turn her brood into superstars amid hopes of permanently moving back to the US following their recent three-month stint in Miami where David’s MLS soccer team is based.
CAMEO ROLES
Last month, it was revealed how her eldest son, Brooklyn, would feature in his fiancée Nicola Peltz’s latest movie,
Lola James, amid their reported plans to move to LA to pursue their Hollywood careers.
And pals say another alluring factor of signing up is the possibility of her children getting cameo roles in the movie, which is also expected to attract a string of A-list stars like the first, which featured Richard E Grant, Sir Roger Moore and Elton John.
The source adds, “Vic loves the idea of turning the film into a family affair and giving the kids an opportunity to star in it too.
“The first film was a huge hit Stateside and further boosted their global success, so she’s hoping that this could give them a platform to launch their careers in the spotlight and keep Brand Beckham at the top of its game.”
