‘It can work – if they’re older and wiser’

-

Businesswoman and former The Apprentice star Luisa Zissman believes you can have success getting back with an ex.

Luisa, 33, says, “I was so excited when I heard Bennifer was back on – what a blast from the past! It goes to show that after a long time apart, people grow and change, and maybe it’ll work for them now they’re both older.

“It’s nice they stayed friends over the years. Break-ups are always sad – but I’ve never understood it when people totally block and cut their ex out of their life. Although they’re now an ex, they will have been a massive part of your life for a time – and it seems ridiculous to totally erase them.

“My ex [Oliver Zissman] and I are on really good terms, but that’s primarily because we had our daughter Dixie, now ten. I think staying friends helped me heal in a healthy way, by having no bad blood or drama. Cutting someone out of your life is traumatic.

“I moved on and am happily remarried now, but I know friends that have stayed in touch with exes and rekindled their relationships years later. And it’s actually worked – because they have grown as people and sorted the issues they had when they were together. After time apart, they reconciled and are now happier than ever.

“So I think, yes, you can get back with an ex – sometimes later in life things can work better. Ben and Jen kept in touch and respected each other over the years, so I think they could definitely work the second time around. They are older, wiser and maybe they now know what they want in a partner.” ● LuAnna: The Podcast – is hosted by Anna Williamson and Luisa Zissman, and available on all podcast platforms
