MOLLY-MAE ‘KNOCKS 10 YEARS OFF’ WITH SURGERY REVERSAL
The 22-year-old reality star shows off a more youthful look after ditching cosmetic procedures
Former Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague looked natural and fresh-faced as she visited a hair salon last week, after deciding to ditch lip and cheek fillers after looking “botched”.
Fans commented on the transformation compared to when she was on the hit reality show in 2019. One said, “She looks like a completely different person to when she went on
Love Island!” And another said, “Molly-Mae looks so much younger and prettier.”
Last year, Molly-Mae began removing the filler in her lips and cheeks after she failed to recognise herself in a selfie.
She said of her U-turn, “I was doing a club appearance and took a selfie. I stared at it thinking, ‘I don’t know what
I’ve done to my face.’ I went from looking like a teenager to someone on [TV show] Botched. I’ve never thought of myself as insecure but I must have been to do that.”
SHIFT IN TRENDS
The 22 year old – who has been in a relationship with fellow Love Islander Tommy Fury since they were both runners-up on the show – has admitted “going overboard” with injectables. She told her Instagram followers she’d “[got] things done that I didn’t necessarily need to get done and didn’t think through at the time.”
And Cosmetic Practioner Amar Suchde from AMS Aesthetics tells Closer that he praises the reality star for reversing things and setting a good example to her young fanbase.
Amar says, “Molly-Mae looks a lot more natural and she’s maintained that youthful effect. It’s knocked five to 10 years off her age.” He adds that, while there was a big hype during 2018 and 2019 for “big cheekbones, big lips and sharp jawlines”, he has since noticed a shift in trends to a more natural look.
He says, “Reality stars and influencers, in particular, had pressures of looking a certain way, and feeling a certain way. It was overdone on some people, such as Molly-Mae, and the risk is that it looks potentially ageing.
GOOD EXAMPLE
“I don’t think there’s any problem having little tweaks along the way, but it’s better to do it in a way that slightly enhances the natural assets, rather than changes the entire face. Molly is a great example for the younger fans as they may have tried copying her by having excessive fillers injected.”
Around 1.7 million people have watched a YouTube video of Molly-Mae having her lip fillers dissolved, while a further million have watched her reverse her composite bonding – a treatment that involves adding material to the teeth to create a desired look. She also had her hair extensions removed and styled into a short bob.
Molly-Mae has previously spoken out about setting a good example to her young followers. She said, “We need to stop normalising filler. I was 17 when I first got my lips done, and it scares me to think that if I have a daughter, what it might be like for her. I sometimes forget how young my followers are. I’m surprised some of the girls in my DMs even have a phone.”
