Posh worries about being dragged into Meghan’s royal feud

Victoria Beckham faces a guest-list dilemma for son Brooklyn’s wedding day as she’s torn between the Cambridges and Sussexes

-

They’ve just returned from Italy’s Amalfi Coast, where they were said to be eyeing up wedding venues for eldest son Brooklyn’s multi-million pound wedding to Nicola Peltz next summer.

Now insiders say that

Victoria and David Beckham have a guest-list dilemma, as they are torn over whether to invite Meghan and Prince Harry or Kate and Prince William to their eldest son’s star-studded nuptials, amid the former “fab four’s” ongoing feud.

A source says, “Vic’s a bit concerned about inviting both couples and all the attention being focused on the warring Royals rather than her son and his future wife.

“Whoever they don’t invite, it will look like a snub and she’s worried that if she invites both, it will create conflict for her and David given they want to remain on good terms with both couples. She’s understandably worried about being dragged into Meghan’s feud.”

David, 46, is pals with both brothers – calling William his “close mate” in 2012 and joining the Prince and his wife to watch England at the Euros last month.

He’s also paid tribute to his bond with Harry too, describing him as “easy to get along with” after he and Posh, 47, attended his wedding to Meghan in 2018.

And with Posh growing closer to Meghan – who’s worn many of the designer’s frocks in recent years and has reportedly leaned on the mum of four for advice ahead of her and Harry’s move to LA – pals say it has further fuelled their quandary.

A-LIST GUEST LIST

The source adds, “David says they should remain neutral by inviting both couples and letting them make that decision between themselves, insisting one will step back and they won’t have had to snub either.”

Meanwhile, insiders say some tension has been brewing as Posh – who famously wore a crown for her wedding to David, with the couple sitting on golden thrones at Ireland’s Luttrellstown Castle – gets involved with helping plan her son’s big day.

A source says, “Victoria is extremely excited, given it’s the first of her children to get married, and she wants to ensure it exceeds expectations. It’s only natural that she wants it to be a day to really remember for Brooklyn.

“She’s already been cultivating her guest list, which includes their best mates Elton John and David Furnish, her former Spice Girl bandmates, and their LA friends Tom Cruise and Kim Kardashian. She’s also talking about inviting George and Amal Clooney who own a home there, even though she’s only met them a few times, as well as some of her old pals like Gwyneth Paltrow to really up the A-list ante.”

Brooklyn, 22, and Nicola,

26 – whose investor father Nelson Peltz has a £1.2bn fortune – were initially said to be looking at five-star

Italian resort Borgo Egnazia in Puglia, where ceremonies cost up to £3m.

She visited the venue with Victoria in tow earlier this month, who was reported to have told the bride-tobe, “It’s your day, we want to make it special… So whatever you want.”

But insiders say the couple have since been swayed to look at other options by

Posh, who is keen for her son and future daughter-in-law to choose an even more exclusive spot, Villa Treville – a private estate favoured by Hollywood legends such as Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton which has been featured in Vogue.

Insiders have previously revealed how their lavish nuptials could exceed £20m – with Nicola’s father footing the bill alongside his daughter’s future in-laws, who have amassed a whopping

£760m fortune.

The source says, “Posh loves the idea of hiring out the entire property for family and friends and having a week-long party with lots of lavish dinners and a luminarie (festival lighting performed in Italy for special celebrations) with star performances from the likes of Beyoncé and Stevie Wonder.

ENTHUSIASM

“She wants to blow everyone away. Given the calibre of guests who are likely to attend, she feels the pressure is on.

Vic loves to plan parties and she’s in her element – joking that she’ll give their wedding planner a run for their money.”

While pals say the couple are grateful for her input,

Posh’s enthusiasm is threatening to cause a little friction.

The source says, “Nicola has very clear ideas of how she

wants her wedding to be.

“She thinks it’s great that

Vic’s doing everything she can to help, but it does leave her feeling a little bit frustrated sometimes, and it’s left Brooklyn feeling like he’s very slightly stuck in the middle.

“Nicola adores Vic, but she’s conscious she doesn’t want there to be any tension.”

Victoria has a notoriously close relationship with Brooklyn and insiders have previously told Closer how she is fiercely protective of her eldest son and his siblings, Romeo, 18, Cruz, 16, and Harper, 10.

Following his engagement to the model last July, after just nine months of dating, she publicly celebrated the pair’s “MOST amazing news” as she and David welcomed

Nicola into their family with open arms.

The actress/model has since acted as a muse for her future mother-in-law’s fashion label and is said to have asked her to design her wedding dress.

And in an effort to maintain harmony, insiders say David has encouraged his wife to take a step-back.

The source adds, “David gently suggested Vic should be conscious about not getting too involved when they started planning the wedding and, after their trip to Italy recently, they had a similar conversation.

“She’s agreed and is making an effort to let Brooklyn and Nicola make their own decisions. If they’re happy, that’s all that matters to her.”
