‘My friend told me to do it because the guys are fit!’

-

Having just gone through her third divorce, former weather presenter and model Ulrika Jonsson admits lockdown hit her hard, leaving her feeling lonelier than ever.

And she reveals she signed up to Celebrity SAS on the advice of a friend, who suggested she might find love again.

Ulrika, 54, says, “I was in a really s****y place, I felt really low and I thought I just needed to get away. My friend told me to go on the show because the guys are really fit on there!”

Ulrika was previously married to cameraman John Turnbull – with whom she shares son Cameron, 25 – and then had daughter Bo,

21, with German hotelier Markus Kempen. She then married former Army officer Lance Gerrard-Wright in

2003 and they had daughter Martha, 17, before they split two years later. Her most recent marriage to advertising exec Brian Monet – with whom she has son Malcolm, 13 – lasted for 11 years before ending in 2019.

Now Ulrika is keen to get back on the dating scene – and says the show helped her feel proud of herself as a woman in her fifties.

She says, “There were a few of us in the 50-plus category.

We are here to scream very loudly and let you know that we are still alive, we’re strong and not going away! I think in particular there’s a stigma around older women dating younger men – and I’m here to stick two fingers up at that. Frankly, I’m bored with men having it all their own way.”

Ulrika wowed fans recently with her amazing figure as she posed naked in her back garden.

She says, “I actually don’t keep fit. I’m just a superactive person, spending much of my time gardening or dog walking. I also very rarely sit still. I wouldn’t say I’m body confident. I think I’m just learning to accept my body and the way it is.”
