5 MINUTES WITH...

BFFs Tom Brittney and Robson Green, back on our screens in the beloved show – solving crimes in the village of Grantchester…

-

Where do we find Will and Geordie?

TOM, 30: Geordie finds something out about Will that Will’s kept secret from him, and it threatens to damage their friendship forever. ROBSON, 56: Geordie’s corrosive past comes to the surface, and we’ve got Shaun Dooley playing a character who Geordie spent time with at a prisoner-of-war camp in Burma. It triggers those things he’s kept hidden an has never told anyone. How was it filming during the pandemic?

TOM: There are some of the cast and crew who still, to this day, I haven’t seen the bottom half of their faces. But I couldn’t be more thankful that we got to carry on making this show. ROBSON: Though everybody has been wearing a mask, in front of the lens in 1958 you wouldn’t think there’s a global pandemic going on – and I think this is the best series yet. It’s explosive, thought-provoking, and incredibly funny in parts. How has Grantchester changed your life?

TOM: This is the biggest role

I’ve got to sink my teeth into. It’s opened some doors for me – and I’ve always had this one thing I wanted to tick off my bucket list, which is getting asked for an autograph in front of my dad. It happened once when we went to the football, and it meant so much to him.

Tell us about the holiday camp in episode one.

TOM: This is a very Butlin’sesque holiday camp but being Grantchester, there’s always a darkness underneath. ROBSON: Well, you’re not about to see Geordie in a Hawaiian shirt… He’s still in his brown suit, smoking a fag. That suit has been worn for six years – I just change my tie every episode.
