Jen turns to David over baby plans

After finally acting on two decades of harboured feelings, pals say David Schwimmer is helping Jennifer Aniston through the adoption process

Friends fans were beside themselves last month when Closer revealed Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer had enjoyed a string of secret dates since reuniting for the sitcom’s 25th reunion show in May.

After David, 54, admitted he “majorly crushed hard” on Jen, 52, during the show’s 10-year run from 1994 to 2004 and she revealed the feelings were “reciprocated”, sources say the pair have continued to grow very close.

SMITTEN

The couple have reportedly been touring vineyards, going on sunset hikes and enjoying dinners out, and even went on a trip away together to Mexico last month.

And now, according to sources, David and Jen have been discussing her long-time dream of adopting a child. It is believed the actress had started the legal process but it was delayed due to lockdown.

The source explained,

“David is smitten with Jen, and the feeling is definitely mutual. The holiday to Mexico brought them closer. They had time to properly reconnect.

“While they were away, they got a chance to start really looking at what a future together would be like. After being initially nervous about jumping quickly into anything too serious with David, Jen said the break helped them let their guard down more.

“David has also been incredibly supportive. They have known each other for more than 25 years and he knows how much having a child means to her. Jen’s adoption is still moving forward, albeit far slower than she’d hoped, and she’s been overwhelmed by his support and how caring he’s been. He was helping her with paperwork while they were away and jumped on a phone call with her lawyer who’s overseeing the adoption process, which she was incredibly touched by.”

While David denied they’re in a relationship, sources insist the pair are simply cautious to keep their dates under wraps for now as they “work on their feelings”. But last month, Jen confessed that David and his daughter Cleo, 10 – whom he shares with his British ex-wife, Zoe Buckman – had been to visit her at her home.

Over the years, Jen – who is launching her own beauty range

this week called LolaVie – has been open about her desire to be a mum. Weeks before the breakdown of her marriage to Brad Pitt in 2004, Jen admitted motherhood was looming. She said, “It’s time. You know, I think you can work with a baby, I think you can work pregnant, I think you can do all of it.”

And in an unlikely turn of events, following their divorce after Brad had an affair with ex-wife Angelina, Closer previously revealed that Jen had reached out to her ex-husband during the process of becoming an adoptive parent.

Brad and Angelina adopted three children – Maddox, 20, Pax, 17, and Zahara, 16.

A source adds, “Brad’s also been helping to guide and advise her as much as possible, which David has encouraged, as he has first-hand knowledge of how it all works. David being so understanding of that relationship, too, has made her feel even closer to him.”

FATHER FIGURE

The insider also explains that David has always wanted more children.

They said, “David had always wanted to expand his family, and while he didn’t expect to become a father figure again, he’s assured Jen that he’ll be there to support her every step of the way.”

And after their holiday, the pair are now more determined – despite David living in Hollywood and Jen living in

LA – to keep building their longdistance relationship. The source adds, “They are keen to keep the spark alive and are excited to see how things progress.”
