999 crews at bus incident

EMERGENCY crews rushed to a ‘serious incident’ on a First Bus.

An alleged “disturbanc­e” took place onboard the number three on Great Western Road, near Knightswoo­d, shortly after 1pm on Sunday, March 17.

Officers say they were called to the incident - where a knife was reportedly present.

During the ordeal, residents reported there were police in the area.

Following it, a 35-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection.

He appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, March 18.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Meanwhile, First Bus has since praised the bus driver for maintainin­g a ‘cool head’ during the situation and moving all the passengers to safety.

A spokespers­on for Police Scotland said: “Around 1.20pm on Sunday, March 17, 2024 officers received a report of a disturbanc­e on a bus at Great Western Road, Glasgow.

“Officers attended and a 35-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

“He is due to appear before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, March 18, 2024. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”

A spokespers­on for First Bus said: “We can confirm a serious incident took place on the No.3 service on Great Western Road shortly after 1pm on Sunday.

“The police were called immediatel­y, and the driver took instant action to move all passengers on board to safety.

“We wish to praise our driver for his quick thinking in a very serious situation and for maintainin­g a cool head to diffuse it as quickly as possible. His actions helped ensure all on board remained safe.”
