SEPARATE LIVES?

Almost half of UK dog owners have been with their pet 24 hours a day since the lockdown began, and according to new research, 29% are worried about an increase in needy behaviour and separation anxiety as it eases. Gerard Lovell, joint managing director of Forthglade, which carried out the research, says: ‘People who previously left their dogs alone all day have been prompted to rethink things, which is a positive.’ As founder of online learning space Barket Place, animal behaviourist Caroline Wilkinson suggests some changes to help the transition, such as introducing short periods of time where your dog is home alone to help them adjust for a quieter house and carrying on some of your exercise or training outside so you still have decent time together and not just a quick ‘chore’ walk when you have less time. For lots more tips, go to forthglade.com/ news/separation-anxiety.

These charming Dog Tag prints from The Enlightened Hound combine hand-drawn letters with illustration to celebrate the characteristics of 27 different breeds. Each one is a handprinted original, individually inked and printed on a traditional etching press and signed by the artist. We love this trusty German Shepherd (from £39, theenlightenedhound.com).
