JO THOMPSON: RHS GOLD MEDAL WINNER

Jo is one of the UK’s top garden designers, with studios in London and Sussex. She’s known for her exquisite planting schemes and her understanding of how to use space in a seamless way. Originally a primary school teacher, Jo retrained at The English Gardening School and set up her garden design company in 2006. She’s since created everything from family gardens to expansive country gardens to tiny roof-top terraces. ‘Every garden, every house and every client is different, so the garden designed for you will be just for you. And every location dictates its own vocabulary,’ she says.

Jo is a favourite at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show where she has won four Gold medals and six Silver Gilts over the years. In 2017 she won the People’s Choice award at the first RHS Chatsworth Flower Show. She is a member of the RHS Gardens Committee and garden advisor for RHS Rosemoor, and sits on the RHS Show Gardens selection panel. Jo lectures nationally and internationally and is a member of the Society of Garden Designers.
