BLOOM WHERE YOU’RE PLANTED...
All the plants, shrubs and trees Jo chose had to be able to stand up to salty winds, strong sun, dry conditions and wild weather.
Jo used soft, greygreen leaved grasses such as Helictotrichon sempervirens, Leymus arenarius and Festuca glauca ‘Elijah Blue’.
Creeping and lowlying low-maintenance plants were ideal for creating pretty ground cover in a coastal location. Jo chose Crithmum maritimum, Crambe maritima, and rosemary and thyme.
Pops of colour seen in these images include the pink blooms of Armeria maritima and poppy red
papaver rhoeas and the bigger ornamental variety,
papaver glaucum. Jo also planted sky-blue
Ceanothus arboreus and Ceanothus azureus ‘Concha’; pretty yellow
Glaucium flavum; pink
Callistemon subulatus; and mauve Eryngium x tripartitum.
