TWO SIMPLE STEPS
STEP 1: CATCH THE WAVE
When the wave approaches, swim front-crawl style until you feel the wave take you. Stop kicking and stretch out your arm like Superman. Whoooaaa, you’re bodysurfing
[that’s the sound I make, every time].
STEP 2: RIDE THE WAVE
The trick is to stretch and stiffen your body, distributing your weight onto your leading arm so you glide on the surface of the wave with 50% of your body out the water. In Brazil, bodysurfing is known as jacare, literally meaning alligator. Think jacare, and you’ll be great.
