Windows 10 worry

-

I could not agree more with Ken Rigsby’s Finalnal Straw (Microsoft’s Names, Issue 478). Microsoft does notot seem to employ marketing people, or else they are on permanent holiday. I have used Windows 98, Windows XP and I am using Windows Vista (which will soon be unsupported). I dread moving to Windows 10 because I have always found moving to a new version a very time-consuming experience which can take many days.

At every step of the way I’m always asking myself why they have changed the wording, layout or logic of the operating system for no apparent reason. What a mess they make of it. Microsoft seems to employ programmers who have very poor powers of communication, and who are past masters of non-intuitive programming.

Their help files are incredibly poor, the worst I have ever come across in 18 years of using computers and programs. I have even experimented on a dozen or more occasions by using Windows Help to solve problems to which I already know the answer. It is in my experience utterly useless and I no longer bother with it. For Vista I found a book ca called ‘Windows Vista, Vi Visual Encyclopedia’ by Ka Kate Shoup and J. Chase. Bu But there does not seem to be a Windows 10 version. Do you know of a similar bo book for Windows 10?

mode’ (see screenshot above). After doing this, you will no longer be pestered. Granted, this is not without its drawbacks. For example, you will no longer receive messages about outdated software, so you will have to check for those manually every now and then. But this is a small price to pay for some peace and quiet.

Even if the collar had arrived and Patrick decided he didn’t want it and returned it, Living is Easy would still have to refund the original postage costs. The Consumer Contract Regulations state that the customer has to receive a full refund, which includes delivery costs. The only scenario an online seller can deduct money from the price of the goods is if they’ve been used and can’t be sold on as new. We can’t contact the company at present: the website is down and their phone number is constantly engaged, but we’ll keep trying.
