Slow Wi-fi?

Boost it by becoming a Computeractive tester! Computeractive has teamed up with devolo to offer 10 readers the chance to test Wi-fi-boosting Powerline technology

-

Sluggish browsing, lost connections, video buffering – do any of these problems sound familiar? Most of us have experienced the frustration of poor internet connections in our home, usually caused by thick stone walls and interference.

One solution is to use Wi-fi extenders, but they are limited in range. A much more comprehensive option is to use Powerline technology, which turns your home’s electrical circuit into a wired network.

How does Powerline technology work?

Powerline technology uses the home’s electrical circuit to transmit the strength of your original internet signal throughout your house to all floors and rooms. From the office to the basement, you can create new Wi-fi hotspots and internet connections anywhere there’s a plug socket. You simply plug a Powerline adapter into a power socket near your router (pictured right) and connect the two via Ethernet. You then take a second Powerline adapter and plug that into a socket in another room to create a new Wi-fi hotspot and a faster, more reliable internet connection.

Introducing devolo’s DLAN 1200+ Wifi ac Adapter

Winner of a Computeractive Buy It!t! award, the DLAN 1200+ Wi-fi ac iss devolo’s fastest and strongest adapterpter to date. It’s capable of reaching speedseds of up to 1200Mbps. It includes devolo’s range+ technology, which simultaneously takes advantage of all three wires in the electrical mains circuit to achieve greater range and stability.

With the adapter’s ‘Wi-fi Move Technology’ you can ensure that all of your wireless devices automaticallyically switch from the router to the nearestest DLAN adapter so that you can alwaysays access the strongest possible Wi-fii signal anywhere in the home.

Also, you won’t lose the use of any plugs because the adapter has a passthrough socket, meaning you can still use the plug to power any device even when an adapter is in place. Two Gigabit LAN ports are also available on

the unit for additional devices.

But don’t just take our word for it – test it for yourself!

You can see what difference devolo’s technology will make to your home by testing it for Computeractive. In this exclusive offer, devolo is giving us 10 kits to send to readers. To apply for one just email editor@computeractive. co.uk with ‘devolo’ in the subject line. Tell us the current Wi-fi set-up in your home, and what problems you’re having.

If we pick you as a reviewer, we’ll send you the DLAN 1200+ Wi-fi ac Starter Kit to use over the next couple of months. We’ll then get in touch with you for your verdict on what difference it has made to your Wi-fi. You won’t need to send the Kit back to us – it’ll be yours to keep. The deadline for emailing us is midnight 20 December, 2016.
