Add right-click Google search to Edge

-

Highlight any word or phrase within Chrome or Firefox and you’ll see the option to run a Google search for it. Microsoft Edge doesn’t have this option, but there’s a way to add it using a Google Search extension.

First, open Edge, type about:flags in the URL bar at the top, then press Enter. Next, tick ‘Enable extension developer features (this might put your device at risk)’ under ‘Developer settings’. Microsoft issues this warning because enabling this feature lets you add extensions from outside the Windows Store, but this particular extension won’t harm your PC. Now close Edge and re-open it.

To download the Google Search extension, go to www.snipca.com/22776, click the green ‘Clone or download’ dropdown menu on the right, click Download ZIP, then Save (see screenshot). Now open your Downloads folder, select the downloaded ‘Google-context-menu-Edge-master’ zipped file and extract its contents with whatever program you use for compressed files. For example, if you use Peazip ( www.peazip.org), right-click the zipped file, select Peazip, click Extract, then OK.

Now, return to Edge, click the three dots at the top right, then Extensions. Click ‘Load extension’ at the bottom, then navigate to and open the extracted ‘Google-context-menu-edge-master’ folder. Select the Google Search folder, then click Select Folder. You’ll now see Google Search added to your list of Edge extensions. From now on, you can right-click any selected word or term in Edge to see the option to run a Google search for it.
