WINDOWS 7 Change Windows Explorer’s default location

-

Whenever you click the Windows Explorer icon on your taskbar, it always opens in your Libraries folder (containing your My Pictures, My Documents, My Videos and My Music folders). If you don’t tend to use these very much, you can easily make Windows Explorer open with any other folder on your PC. We’ll show you how, as well as a quick way to set Windows Explorer to open with My Computer.

First, open the folder you want Windows Explorer to open with, click inside its address bar at the top, then press Ctrl+c to copy its location path. Now, right-click the Windows Explorer icon on your taskbar, right-click the Windows Explorer option in this menu, then click Properties. In the box that opens, you’ll see the Target field, which contains the location path that determines which folder Windows Explorer opens with. By default, it’s set to ‘%windir%\explorer.exe’.

To apply your chosen location, simply add a space after the ‘.exe’, then press Ctrl+v to paste your new location path (see screenshot). Next, click Apply, then OK. From now on, Windows Explorer will always open with the folder you have chosen.

And here’s a quick way to make Windows Explorer open with My Computer. Go to www.snipca.com/ 23573 and copy the location path at the top of the page. Now highlight whatever appears in Windows Explorer’s Target field, delete it, press Ctrl+v to paste the copied text into it, click Apply, then OK.
