Read illegible text on your PC screen

- Brenda Pallis

I recently bought a new Windows 10 PC and noticed that text on my screen looked a little fuzzy. After researching online, I found out this was easy to correct using Microsoft’s built-in Cleartype tool, which lets you improve the readability of your display.

To use the tool, press the Windows key, type cleartype, then click ‘Adjust Cleartype text’. Here, ensure ‘Turn on Cleartype’ is ticked, then click Next. You’ll now see a series of screens with text boxes. Simply select the text boxes that look the clearest to you on each screen (see screenshot below), then keep clicking Next, until you have to click Finish. Windows will now automatically recalibrate your screen text resolution based on your choices.
