The man who co-invented Li-ion batteries in 1980 has unveiled its replacement - solid-state batteries. Professor John Goodenough, now 94, and his team at the University of Texas say that the new technology can fully charge devices in minutes, rather than hours, and won’t catch fire if damaged.
