Creators Update ‘will make Windows 10 better than ever’

-

I would like to echo your enthusiasm for the Creators Update (CU), which is coming to Windows 10 soon. In Issue 497 (News, page 6) you say that the CU will make the operating system “smoother to run”. That’s spot on. I signed up to the Windows Insider Program ( https:// insider.windows.com) late last year so I could try some of the new tools. I was a bit nervous at first. Would it mess up my PC? But Microsoft has added lots of little options that have the overall benefit of ironing out quirks and glitches. There are some standout tools too, like Paint 3D. I’m no artist – I even managed to fail my Art A-level several decades ago - but I’ve created some nice artworks using the new program. They’ve even impressed my daughter, who is a professional artist.

It wouldn’t surprise me if many people are sceptical about the CU. My other half, who loves computing as much as I do, just sees it as another update she could do without. But she’s not used the new tools that I have. I hope to persuade her that when it comes out, it’s worth getting to grips with. I think it makes Windows 10 better than any version of Windows has ever been. Jim Moore

CA says Jim’s right that the Creators Update looks like improving Windows 10 significantly, and certainly more than the Anniversary Update did last year. We’re not easily pleased here at Computeractive, and think that Microsoft is often guilty of releasing needless updates. But this time we’re confident it will get most of the changes spot on. We’ll explain how to use all the new features over the next few issues.
