Translate text as you type

-

Google’s free keyboard app Gboard has a new feature that lets you translate text as you type. First, install Gboard ( www.snipca. com/23780), then make sure it’s set as your default keyboard app. To do that, open Settings on your device, scroll down to ‘Language and input’ (on some devices this might be under ‘Advanced settings’), tap either Keyboard, ‘Current keyboard’ or ‘Default keyboard’ (depending on your device), then select Gboard.

Now tap the Google icon at the top left of the keyboard when you reach the point where you need your typed text translated. In the menu that appears, tap the Google Translate icon (first option on the left), then tap Got It. You’ll now see two dropdown menus on the left and right. Tap the one on the right, select the language you want to translate text into, then start typing your text.

Whatever you type will appear in English in the small panel above the keyboard. As you type, you’ll see your translated text in the app you’re typing in (see screenshot below left). Tap the back button at the top left of the keyboard when you want to resume typing in English.
