What’s the best inkjet printer for my needs?

-

QCan you recommend an inkjet multi-function printer to replace my Canon MG6250? I need both front and rear paper feed trays to print envelopes and A4 card; double-sided (duplex) printing; and an Ethernet or USB interface. Canon seems to have dropped the rear paper tray from its current range.

AThe MG5750, which is still available (£49 from Currys www.snipca.com/24324), does have duplex printing, and although it’s front-fed and designed for paper only up to 105gsm (grams per square metre), it takes Canon photo paper up to 300gsm, which qualifies as card. You could experiment with different paper stocks. As with the TS5050, envelopes are accepted, but you’d have to unload the main paper stack to feed them.

For a proper separate rear feed, consider the Epson Workforce WF-3620DWF (£99 from Argos www. snipca.com/24325, see our review, Issue 496, pictured), which takes up to 256gsm (thin card), offers duplex and adds an automatic feed for scanning. But it can’t match the photo quality of Canon’s models.
