GOOGLE FINED FOR ‘UNFAIR’ SHOPPING RESULTS
Google has been fined 2.42bn euros (around £2.1bn) by the European Commission after it ruled the company artificially placed its own shopping comparison service at the top of search results, ahead of rivals such as Kelkoo. The Commission said Google had abused its monopoly by denying customers “the benefit of competition”. Google said it “respectfully disagreed”, and indicated that it may appeal.
