What’s the point of email threading?
Ken Rigsby’s rant about ‘confusing’ email inboxes (Issue 505, pictured left) struck a chord. Mamail clients used to be a ststraightforward tool for bubusiness communication. Ememails arrived in a simple chchronological order. You cocould deal with each email as it arrived, saving, deleting, replying as necessary. Then the concept of email threading was introduced with ideological frenzy from programmers who “know what we need”. I find it useless, very confusing, and almost impossible to manage sensibly. My requests for its removal from the app developers is met with complete reluctance to accept that it’s not wanted or needed. Apparently, when I get used to it, I’ll be grateful that I persevered!
