Make Avast Free’s pop-ups less annoying

I was looking for an antivirus program for my new Windows 10 PC, and opted for Avast Free Antivirus 2017 ( www.snipca.com/24865). It works fine, but one thing that annoys me are its constant notifications telling me it’s started a scan, that my software is out of date, that I should update Avast, and countless other warnings.

Avast doesn’t let you turn off these notifications, but there is a way to cut the time they display in your PC’S notification area (from the default 20 seconds). Open the program, click Settings at the bottom left, General at the top left, then scroll to and expand the Popups section. Here, you can change the duration for each type of notification (see screenshot above right). Keep important notifications at a longer duration. Click OK to confirm changes. Terry Meeham
