Keepass

-

www.keepass.info Free Keepass is free, but its open-source, community-based development isn’t as well funded as its rivals, which means its design can be a bit hit and miss. As a result, Keepass is simply not as easy to use as the other password managers we tested.

In particular, we struggled to import our passwords from Chrome. You need to install two of Keepass’ extensions (from www.keepass.info/plugins.html – see screenshot above), then export your passwords from Chrome and import them into Keepass. Neither of these processes are straightforward.

Keepass is one of the few password managers that only stores your passwords on your PC, making it an option for those who don’t entirely trust saving them online. In fact if all you want is a database of your passwords, Keepass is worth considering. But if you’re looking to import passwords and sync them online, avoid it.
