CREATE YOUR MASTER PASSWORD

-

Lastpass – like any other password manager – requires you to create a master password, which you need to access your password vault. There’s no point creating strong passwords for your online accounts if your master password is ‘123456’ (it happens). It would be like building a castle on sand.

The aim is to create a master password that’s strong enough to fend off the most persistent hackers, but memorable enough that you don’t have to write it down. To get around this problem, we suggest that, instead of a mix of letters, numbers and punctuation marks, you use a passphrase comprising six or more words.

You should use Make Me A Password’s generator for this ( www.snipca.com/24830). When the web page opens you’ll see a readable passphrase (see screenshot). If the phrase is simply too random to be memorable, click the Get Another button to generate an alternative.

You’ll be surprised how easy it is to remember a phrase after you’ve used it a few times.
