WILL YOUR BODY SOON BE YOUR PASSWORD?

-

Phone manufacturers have already started to hint at a future where passwords won’t be needed. Phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S8 and iphone 7 have fingerprint scanners, while Microsoft has released its ‘Modern Keyboard’ with a fingerprint-reading button. You can see it in action at www.snipca.com/24871, but beware of its $130 (about £100) asking price.

Your eyes, face and even your heartbeat may all soon be routinely scrutinised too. Sony is rumoured to be working on a facial recognition scanner (pictured) for its Xperia mobile phone range ( www.snipca.com/24905). Samsung and German bank Diebold Nixdorf have announced plans to introduce a cardless cash machine that also uses facial recognition ( www.snipca.com/24873). Even more advanced is the Nymi band ( https://nymi.com), which recognises the rhythm of your pulse and will unlock anything from your PC to your front door as you near it.
