Can I schedule System Restore to work daily?

-

Q

Is it possible to program my PC to create a restore point every day? I use Windows 10. Dave Carpenter

A

Yes, you can do this using the Task Schedule tool that’s part of Windows. Click Start, type task scheduler then click Task Scheduler. Next, use the far-left-hand pane to navigate to Microsoft\windows\systemrestore. Now, in the top-middle pane, doubleclick the entry labelled ‘SR’: this will open the SR Properties box. Here, select the Triggers tab and then click New (see screenshot 1 ).

In the New Trigger dialogue, next to ‘Begin the task’ make sure that ‘On a schedule’ is selected. Then, under Settings, choose the Daily option (see screenshot 2 ). In the second box to the right of Start, type the time that you would like System Restore to run each day then, in the ‘Recur every’ box below, type 1.

Next, ensure that the Enabled box is ticked, then click OK to close the New Trigger dialogue. Finally, click OK to close the SR Properties box, followed by the cross in the top-right corner of the Task Schedule window.
