Plan train journeys in Google Maps

Google Maps lets you check train and coach departure times from any station in the UK. This lets you keep on top of any delays, see all the stops en route and find out what time you’re likely to reach your destination.

To use the feature open Google Maps (default on Android; IOS www.snipca. com/25919), then type the name of the train or coach station station at the top. You’ll see its location as a red pin on the map. Tap the name of the station at the bottom, then tap the Trains/buses section.

You’ll see all the trains and/or coaches departing from that station over the next few hours, including which platform/ stand they are leaving from and any delays or cancellations in the service.

If the train station you’re leaving from handles services from multiple rail companies (for example, Crosscountry, Virgin, East Midlands, etc), you’ll see their names in the panel at the top (see screenshot above). Tap a name to see only that company’s services.

Tap any departure to see all the stops in that journey with arrival times for each station.
