Holiday camp memories on BBC iplayer Archive
Thank you so much for recommending the BBC’S new iplayer Archive (News, Issue 512, page 8). It confirmed what I’ve long suspected - that TV back in the 1950s-1970s was much better than it is now.
There’s one gem in the Archive that I’m confident my fellow Computeractive readers will love – particularly those who, like me, are rather long in the tooth. It’s a documentary from 1966 capturing life in a holiday camp, described as “a unique British institution”. It brought back memories of packed canteens, knobblyknees competitions and the plink-plonk of xylophones over the speakers. You can watch it at www.snipca.com/25860. Hi-de-hi! Joseph Winstone
