Even Amazon doesn’t know why it charged me

-

I have been a member of Amazon since 2012 and have had no worries until today. I checked my building society statement and found I had been charged £73.61 by Amazon.com, the parent company of Amazon.co.uk.

Getting through to customer services is like going through a maze blindfolded with no feet, as they plant it deep inside the site (I wonder why that is?). I had a ‘chat’ with a man in the UK, telling him I never wanted the Prime service and my Amazon page says I have no Prime account. Then I get the news that they don’t know anything about the payment as they have no info on it.

He said I should contact Amazon.com in the US and ask them. This is what I did and after another ‘chat’ with another man I was told they had no idea why I was charged as it was a “subscription not associated with my account”. I am waiting for a refund from Amazon of $99, which I hope is the correct amount in pounds. Funny things happen, don’t they? Philip Brennan
