How do I delete duplicate photos on an old ipod?

-

QI own an old ipod that has over 1,000 photographs, with many duplicates. So, I was delighted to read Issue 509’s Workshop about Remo Duplicate Photos Remover ( www.snipca. com/25252). Unfortunately, it seems the program won’t run on my ipod, as it requires IOS 8 or later, and this device is stuck on IOS 6. I have recently bought a more up-to-date ipod, with IOS 10.3.3, but this isn’t the one with the duplicated photos. Can you offer a solution? John Sneyd

AIf you trawl through the App Store for long enough you might find a duplicateremoval tool that hasn’t been updated in years, and will therefore work on IOS 6. But it’d be quicker to connect your ipod to a PC, drag and drop the photos into folder there and use a free Windows program like Dupeguru ( www.snipca.com/25692) to identify and then zap the doubles.

Launch Dupeguru and, at the top, select the Photo option. Now click the plus (‘+’) button, click Add Folder, then navigate to the folder containing your ipod photos. Click Scan. From the list of matches, select duplicates by ticking the relevant boxes. Click the Details button if you want to compare selected images to ensure they really are duplicates (see screenshot). When you’re happy, open the Actions menu and choose ‘Send Marked to Recycle Bin’.
