Problems Solved
QI have recently removed my HP Photosmart printer from my computer using Revo Uninstaller, but now every time I turn my laptop on I get an error message about a missing DLL file. I can click on the OK button to remove the warning, and everything seems fine after that — but how do I stop it appearing at all? Is there now a problem with my system? Steve Shaw
AThere’s no problem with your system but Revo Uninstaller evidently didn’t remove every last remnant of your HP printer’s drivers.
We reckon this is probably just a redundant entry in the Startup folder that tries to load the now-missing software. To check, press Windows key+e to launch File Explorer, then navigate to C:\users\yourusername\appdata\ Roaming\microsoft\windows\start Menu\programs\startup. Look for the HP Photosmart entry, then right-click it and choose Delete (see screenshot). Confirm by clicking Yes.
If there’s no such entry then it’ll be a registry key you need to remove. Press Windows key+r, type regedit and press Enter. Now, in the left-hand pane navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\microsoft\windows\ Currentversion\run. Then, in the right-hand pane, look for an Hp-related entry. If you’re not sure, search on Google to find your target. When you’re confident you’ve got the right one, right-click it, choose Delete, followed by Yes to confirm, and then restart your PC.
