How do I shift my Dropbox?

-

QI’m switching from a Windows 7 desktop PC to a new Windows 10 laptop, and I would like to know how to shift my Dropbox files. I have a paid-for account with over 50GB of files stored. I understand that if I install Dropbox on the laptop it’ll download everything from the cloud, but we live in the sticks and broadband is terribly slow – so this could take forever. Could I speed things up by copying the files to my external hard drive? If so, how do I tell Dropbox that’s what I want to do?

AWe suspect you’ve got the wrong end of the stick. Microsoft’s announcement wasn’t that WLM would stop working completely. Instead, it said it was discontinuing support for the tool – and that various Microsoft email services would stop working with WLM.

This means that if you had WLM set up to work with Outlook.com or any other Microsoft email domain (such as @hotmail.com, @msn.com and @live. com) then, from around June 2016 onwards, you would no longer have been able to send or receive new emails.

However, emails already downloaded from these services to WLM continue to be viewable within that program. Moreover, WLM remains fully functional with other email services. So, for example, if you have a POP or IMAP email account

AWe’re not aware that Microsoft has intentionally made this setting compulsory in Windows 10 Mail. We’ve tried flipping the switch on several Windows 10 PCS updated with FCU and they all behave as expected, with the switch remaining On or Off as selected – so this is most likely a bug of some sort.

As such the only real solution is to wait for Microsoft to fix it but, in the meantime, we’d suggest disabling the Focused Inbox. First, log into your Microsoft email account at www.outlook.com. Now, at the top right, click the Settings cog and choose ‘Display settings’. Next, click the Focused Inbox tab and, under ‘When mail is received’, select the ‘Don’t sort messages’ option (see screenshot). Finally, click OK to save the change.
