How do I circumvent this Chrome warning?

-

Q

Sometimes when I want to visit a website, Chrome blocks it, saying it’s unsafe. I’ve lived with that up to now, as a sensible precaution. However, there’s one site I’m confident is safe, because it’s my son’s page on his university’s website. He assures me there’s nothing untoward on his page and I’d like to proceed, but I can’t work out how – Chrome doesn’t offer a Continue button. Can you explain?

Chrome’s warnings usually have a good foundation, so proceed with our advice at your own risk. In this case we think Chrome could be flagging the site as dangerous because other student pages hosted by the university’s servers have malicious content, rather than your son’s page in particular. We’d advise contacting the university first to check, or alert them, but if you want to go ahead, here’s what to do.

If you attempted to access the site by clicking a link from Google’s search-result page then, on the warning page displayed by Chrome, click and drag to highlight the suspect website address, then press Control (Ctrl)+c to copy it. Now use Ctrl+v to paste that URL into Chrome’s address bar, press Enter.

If you get a red page warning that the site contains malware then, if you’re certain you wish to proceed, click DETAILS (see screenshot below) followed by the ‘visit this unsafe site’ link (see screenshot above).
