The US has unveiled the world’s fastest computer, which can make 200,000 trillion calculatio­ns a second (200 petaflops). Summit, built by IBM and Nvidia, will be used by the US government to carry out highly complex research into areas such as astrophysi­cs and cancer. It overtakes China’s Sunway Taihulight supercompu­ter, which has a processing power of 93 petaflops.
