Use same phone number on all devices

-

EE customers can now use the same phone number across all their Apple devices, with Android phones and tablets to follow “at a later date”.

The launch of EE’S ‘smart number’ technology sees it become the first UK network to offer such a service. You can use the same number – your current one, or a new number - across up to five devices, letting you send text messages and make calls from your phone, laptop, tablet or smartwatch.

You can even switch the call between devices, from ipad to iphone for example, as long as they are paired. This could prove useful if you’re talking on one device that runs out of battery life, because you can resume the call on another.

However, the service is available only to customers on a monthly contract, not ‘pay as you go’ (PAYG).

It uses Wi-fi calling, so you’ll need an internet connection, but it does mean you can make multiple calls at the same time. This means you can chat to a friend on one device while waiting on hold with a utility company, for example, on another.

The service, which doesn’t cost anything, is available on iphones, ipads, Macs, Macbooks and the Apple Watch. Visit EE’S site to see which precise devices are compatible, and for instructions on setting it up: www.snipca.com/28122.
