YAHOO FINED FOR UK DATA BREACH
Yahoo’s UK branch has been fined £250,000 by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) over the 2014 data breach in which Russiabacked cybercriminals stole the personal details of 515,000 people in the UK. The ICO said Yahoo’s security inadequacies “had been in place for a long period of time without being discovered or addressed”. The fine is 0.4 per cent of Yahoo UK’S 2016 profit, which was £69 million.
