How do I restore Excel’s dropdown menus?

-

QA few years ago Computeractive showed us how to activate dropdown menus when using Excel 2007 (and presumably later versions). I have until very recently continued to use these old menus and commands, as they’re imprinted on my mind since Excel was launched. I have just changed my computer and re-installed Excel 2007, because it suits my simple needs and I do not wish to struggle through learning the ribbon commands. However, I cannot recall how to activate the menus, and age is against me in this matter! Can you refresh my memory? Chris Parker

AWe’ve explored various ways to do this over the years but we can be certain which method you followed, thanks to the screenshot you sent – and that’s because it contains a link to the developer’s website. However, the text in question is light blue on a marginally lighter blue and it is rather difficult to read.

But now that we’ve mentioned it you’ll probably see that that developer is Ubit, and its website is at www.ubit. ch. So, go there and then, under the Software heading on the left, click the ‘Ubitmenu International’ link followed by the ‘Download English Ubitmenu’ link (see screenshots below). Then, double-click the Ubitmenusetupuk. exe file you just downloaded, click Next followed by Finish and your muchloved menus will be back in Excel (and all the other Office applications).

Finally, for the benefit of other readers, you’re right in your assumption that Ubitmenu works with later versions of Office – currently up to Office 2016.
