Download Android texts using SMS Share 2

-

To get text messages off an Android phone, we recommend using SMS 2 Share ( www.snipca.com/28436). While the free version limits you to downloading four messages at a time, there’s no restriction on the number of times you download. If you want to download more messages in one go, and be ad-free, you’ll need to upgrade to the full version, for £3.89 or send your Android messages direct to Gmail for free (see box below).

STEP 1

Go to the Play Store on your Android phone, then download and open the SMS Share 2 app 1 . Select the relevant conversation, then tick the boxes next to the messages you want to download. To download all messages in the conversation, tap the box at the bottom of the screen and choose the Select All option. The Select By Date option lets you download messages that were sent during a specific time period.

STEP 2

To change the formatting of your messages, press the Settings button in the bottomright corner, then select Tweaks. From here, you can change the text size, choose whether to show the date on each message 1 , and select whether to show the contact’s profile photoo 2 . You can also change the message font and flip the conversation so that your messages appear on the left 3 .

STEP 3

When you’ve selected your messages, press the Share button at the bottom of the screen. There are various export options available. To keep the styling the same, choose the PDF option 1 . Once the PDF has been created, email it to yourself. Alternatively, if you aren’t fussed about the message styling and the text, choose the Plain Text option at the bottom.
