Sync your Keepass passwords across all your devices

I enjoyed reading your ‘Have your Passwords been Hacked’ cover feature in Issue 538 (page 50). However, you mentioned that password manager Keepass ( www.keepass.info) doesn’t sync your passwords across your devices.

I’ve been using Keepass for many years and discovered a great little plug-in called Keeanywhere that does just that, by letting you store your passwords in any cloud-storage service, including Google Drive and Onedrive. Personally, I use my Dropbox account, which I can access from all my devices (IOS and Android) using the Keepass app.

To install the plug-in, open Keepass, click Tools, Plugins, then click Get More Plugins. This directs to the website where you can download the Keeanywhere.zip file. When prompted for your download location, navigate to your C drive, Program Files, Keepass, then the Plugins folder.

Once that’s done, restart Keepass, click Tools, Plugins, then Keeanywhere Settings (see screenshot left). Now simply follow the instructions to choose which cloud-storage service you want to sync your passwords to, then log into that service when prompted.

It happens to us all, I suppose, but the older I get the more things slip my mind. I was intrigued by the possibilities when I saw my son’s Amazon Echo in action, so I bought one for myself – and before you could say ‘Alexa’ it was making my life so much easier.

I now just ask it to set timers for cooking, as well as to remind me of upcoming birthdays, make quick calculations and conversions, read the weather forecast, and even to tell me the time in the various countries where my sons and daughters live (so I don’t wake them up with a phone call in the early hours).

I’ve never been great at typing or tapping so this is much easier for me than using my PC or phone. Over time my Echo even got used to the sound of my voice and doesn’t ask me to repeat myself quite so much anymore.
