How do I stop low-space warnings?
QI am repeatedly being advised by Windows 10 that I have low disk space on my drive I, which is some kind of preinstalled recovery partition on my PC’S SSD. It’s really annoying to be frequently advised of low disk space when it seems to be out of my control to rectify the situation. Can you possibly help me? Mervyn Bryce
AWe can understand how that would quickly become annoying. Fortunately, you can suppress this warning with a quick addition to the Windows registry.
Back up your PC first, then press Windows key+r, type regedit and press Enter. Next, in the left-hand pane, navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\windows\ Currentversion\policies\explorer. Click to select Explorer in the left-hand pane and then, in the right-hand pane, right-click any blank area then point to New and click ‘DWORD (32-bit) Value’. Type Nolowdiskspacechecks (see screenshot) as the name for this new value then press Enter. Now doubleclick Nolowdiskspacechecks and change the ‘Value data’ field from 0 (zero) to 1 (one). Now just close the Registry Editor and restart your PC.
QI can easily call up the few images I have in Google Photos when using my Windows 7 PC or my Android phone and tablets. However, while I can log into my Google account using the web browser on my LG smart TV, my photos do not show up. My Google account icon is there, so I know I am accessing the website, but apart from that, no photos appear. I don’t know what browser is used by my TV, but perhaps somehow Google doesn’t recognise the TV as a device? Any suggestions? Jack Woods
AWeb browsing on smart TVS can sadly still be something of a hitor-miss affair – and this might just be one of the misses. There are so many variables at play here, and possible causes, that it’s almost impossible for us to give a definitive answer. However, what we can say is to check that your TV’S firmware is up to date: this will change regularly, as do services like Google Photos, so you need to ensure you’re using the latest version of LG’S browser.
You didn’t tell us which LG TV you have but the basic steps are as follows. First, press the Settings button on your TV remote, or choose All Settings from the on-screen menu. Now select General followed by About This TV, and then Check For Updates followed by Install (see screenshots). If you’d prefer a visual guide, see LG’S instruction video at www.snipca.com/29280.
