How do I disable Word’s hyperlink warnings?

-

Q I’m creating a Word document for my grandchildren about my life, saved on a flash drive. I’m including details about relatives, with their names as hyperlinks to pictures saved on the drive. When I click a link to access a picture I get a security message about the dangers of the links (see screenshot 1 ). Can I disable these? Davis Andrews

A This feature warns you that some links might lead to harmful content. Your photos are fine but, while this safeguard can be disabled, it applies to all types of links – so be careful what you click. It also requires a Registry hack, so back up before starting.

To begin, press Windows key+r, then type regedit in the Run box and press Enter. Now, use the left-hand pane to navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\microsoft\office\16.0\ Common. Note that ‘16.0’ reflects the Office version; yours might be different. Now, in the right-hand pane, right-click then point to New, and then click Key. Type Security as this key’s name, and press Enter. Ensuring the new Security key is selected in the left-hand pane, again right-click in the right-hand pane and choose ‘DWORD (32-bit) Value’. Name this value Disablehyperlinkwarning, and press Enter. Next, right-click this new Disablehyperlinkwarning value, and then choose Modify (see screenshot 2 ). Finally, in the ‘Value data’ field, type a 1 (see screenshot 3 ) and click OK.

To revert later, this figure should be changed back to 0 (zero).

?? ?? Click Disablehyperlinkwarning and then select ’Modify…‘
